This Red Door presents a shared evening of new work by choreographers Caitlin Cook and Nora Stephens as part of the inaugural series, Dance Happens at This Red Door, at the Kunsthalle Gallery in the Galapagos Art Space in DUMBO, Brooklyn.

Caitlin Cook’s new group work Health Dance/Dance for the East Star, is a ritualistic square dance to be performed in springtime. Health Dance/Dance for the East Star is performed by Caitlin Cook, Jessie Gold, Jennifer Kjos, Parker Lutz and Paige Martin, with set design by Krishana Collins.

When I am Young is a new experimental solo performance by Nora Stephens. Performed by Stephens, When I am Young uses pop music, character play, and insular movement to rupture the awkward and resonating psychological epochs of adolescence.

Caitlin Cook is a choreographer, dancer and musician. Her choreography has been presented at venues in New York including The Kitchen, Joyce Soho, Dixon Place, Good/Bad Art Collective and Merce Cunningham Studio. Caitlin is the creator of the Dance/ Band group Skint and has been a vocalist in the bands Vizusa, Excepter and Insayngel.

Nora Stephens is a dance maker, video artist and teacher. While based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from 2009-12, her work was presented at the Museu de Arte Moderno, Barracão Maravilha Gallery, art events Ocupação and Contrabanda, and Rampa, Lugar de Criação.  In New York, her work has been presented at the 92nd St. Y, Center for Performance Research, Brooklyn Museum, Movement Research at the Judson Church, Dixon Place, AUNTS, and in DancenOw/NYC.
