Die Wiederbelebung der Suhr Gitarre
Reanimation of the Suhr Guitar

In the early 1980 Mr Vasant Rai, a famous Sarod Virtuoso from India, was living and teaching in New York when a student introduced him to the classical guitar. He then modified such an instrument to be used in Indian classical and crossover music. I could find only one photo and two stunning recordings of that instrument and was immediately hooked on it's gentle sound. In 1985 Vasant Rai died and the Suhr Guitar story ended.
I decided to pick up the thread and to revive this rare musical Instrument.
So I built two. And now I want to reintroduce the Suhr Guitar by attempting to play some appropriate music on it.
The sonic experience is riveting to me and the Instrument by design leads to specific scales and meditative overtone rich soundscapes which I attempt to explore.
